Cleaning of Duct Work in Food Processing Plant - Manchester, UK

About this project

Here at Safeflow, one of our specialist duct cleaning teams recently visited a food processing plant in Manchester to survey and clean their ductwork.

We always recommend that any food processing facilities should have their extract ductwork systems cleaned on a regular basis, minimum once per year.

For this specific job, the build up of grease on the internal surface of the kitchen extract system is vary clear - you can see this in the first 2 pre-work photographs.

The process of work we went through to get these cleaned up included; Hand Scraping, Chemical De-carbonising and Hand wiping, along with some final finishing techniques.

Where necessary we also install appropriate sized access doors, allowing decontamination of all areas of the ventilation system to TR19 Standards.

As the photos attached show, the contamination in the ductwork was not only becoming a fire hazard due to the amount of access flour/grease in there, it was also restricting the air flow causing the processing area to become hot and airborne flour was evident in the areas

Upon finishing the clean, we supplied the client with a certificate of decontamination, a full report with photographic evidence of the full clean and a suggested schedule of maintenance for moving forward and ensuring this ductwork does not reach this hazardous state again.

If you have a similar extract ductwork system and would like more information regarding our cleans and scheduled maintenance, please contact us on 0333 358 3382 or Email Us.
